Welcome
In a spirit of enquiry and openness, the Religion and Philosophy department at CCGS invites all pupils to explore the big ideas, beliefs and practices that continue to shape the world around us. Taught by specialists throughout the school, pupils will learn about Christianity and the other world religions of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Sikhism. As part of the philosophy strand to our curriculum, they will also study questions relating to the meaning of life, the nature of truth and issues of morality from different critical perspectives.
As well as learning about the perspectives and approaches of others, there is also the expectation that pupils will develop their own responses to questions raised. This is encouraged by providing a rounded education which not only promotes academic excellence in the classroom but values such first-hand experiences as visiting sacred places and meeting members of diverse traditions.
