Courses
At Chatham & Clarendon Sixth From we offer two qualifications that are both part of the 2016 Cambridge Technical suite. The course that is best for you will depend on your other subject choices and your prior qualifications.
Extended Certificate
This course is often referred to as the ‘single’ course as it is the equivalent to one A-Level.
It comprises six units (depending on specialist unit choice), three of which are exam, the other three being coursework.
Four units are studied in year 12 – unit 1 – Building Positive Relationships (coursework), unit 2 – Equality, Diversity and Rights (exam), unit 3 – Health, Safety & Security (exam) and Unit 4 – Anatomy & Physiology (exam)
Two further units are studied in year 13 – unit 10 – Nutrition (coursework) and the specialist unit(s).
Students on this course have five lessons a week, with four being dedicated to exam unit study and the other working on coursework.
Diploma
This course is often referred to as the ‘double’ course as it is the equivalent to two A-Levels.
It comprises twelve units (depending on specialist unit choices), some are coursework and some are exam.
Double students study the unit listed above plus:
Unit 5 – Infection control
Unit 6 – Personalisation and Person-Centred Approach to Care
Unit 7 – Safeguarding
Unit 14 – The Impact of Long-term Physiological Conditions
They are also able to make several specialist unit choices instead of just one.
Students on this course have ten lessons a week, with a proportion being dedicated to exam unit study and the rest being spent on coursework.
