Welcome to the English Faculty. Our mission is to make the study of English Language and Literature a challenging, compelling and thought provoking experience. We aim to foster a love of reading which goes beyond school life and encourages students to understand and ask questions about the world they live in. Through literature, students can engage with the reflections and experiences of people from many countries and times and discover how books contribute to our sense of cultural identity.

English is vital for communicating with others in school and in the wider world, and is fundamental to learning in all curriculum subjects. In studying English, pupils develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing that they will need to participate in society and employment. Our aim is to teach pupils to express themselves creatively and imaginatively and to communicate with others confidently and effectively.
