Year 8 Maths Challenge Day 2

10 Jul 24

Our year 8 girls spend the day competing in small groups in a series of 5 rounds, ranging from group round, cross number to two different relays and a practical pi paper chain round. It was great to see the team work, competitive spirit throughout the day and the fast running during relay. Congratulations to the many teams that won a prize for a round or the overall prize! Our sixth-formers were a wonderful help again and looked after their teams brilliantly.

A selection of feedback from the students at the end of the day:

"It was fun and better than doing regular lessons, I enjoyed practising maths In a  fun way. My favourite activity was the paper chains and the relay."
"Today was fun, I enjoyed the big relay because it was challenging and tense but it got us moving around and was fun. It was better than normal maths."
"I think today was pretty fun, despite the fact I don't really like maths. I think I liked the pi chain activity most because we had to think of a strategy to make the chain long in not much time."
