New Sports Arena
Students at Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School returned to school last week to a great surprise! Their old green ‘Astroturf’ had been completely replaced with a brand new red ‘polymeric’ surface.
The new, harder surface will enable the school to offer students a wider opportunity of sports including the introduction of tennis and basketball. The Head of PE, Mrs Laura Morgan, said ‘the new surface is absolutely fantastic and increases the opportunities our students have to take part in sport that we have not been able to provide in the past. The new surface provides six tennis courts, six basketball courts, six netball courts as well as a full size hockey pitch.
The school’s Business Manager, Mr Chris Freeman, was very pleased with the installation and workmanship by the company installing the new arena: “I really cannot praise Mr Andy Whelan and his team at A.S. Sports Systems of Southwell, Notts. more highly enough for the extremely professional manner in which they completed this installation. They really pulled the stops out to complete the works within four weeks and despite some appalling weather to contend with, managed to complete it before the students returned. Their team of workers were all stars!”
Chris Freeman also stated that with the benefit of the school’s floodlights, that community groups would be able to hire the facilities after school all year round – so if any netball, tennis, basketball or hockey teams are interested in seeing the facilities, please get in touch.
Mrs Debra Liddicoat, Headteacher said “I am delighted that our school can provide a wider range of sports for all of our students. The feedback from the students and parents has been hugely positive which is so good to hear.
