CCGS Mathematicians Shine in National Cipher Challenge

05 Mar 25

Our talented CCGS mathematicians put their skills to the test in this year’s National Cipher Challenge, hosted by the University of Southampton. Over six dedicated teams tackled ten weekly challenges, mastering complex encryption techniques such as the Vigenère cipher.

A special congratulations to our top-performing team—Mac Y, Max D, and Logan S—who secured an impressive silver medal at the national level! Their outstanding achievement earned them an invitation to the prestigious prize-giving event at Bletchley Park, the historic WWII codebreaking hub of GCHQ.

In true cryptographic spirit, they followed in Alan Turing’s footsteps, spending days coding and developing their own tools to crack the most challenging cipher.

Well done to all our CCGS codebreakers! We can’t wait to take on next year’s challenge.
