Award-Winning Art at the John Downton Awards
CCGS students have enjoyed an extremely successful evening at this year’s John Downton Awards’ Private View in Maidstone. In the 11 to 16 age category, Poppy Ried-Croucher received the Painting prize for her self-portrait and Rebecca Kemp was awarded second overall prize for her underwater painting. In the 16 to 17 category, Alexandre Townsend-Jones won the third place bronze prize for her self-portrait sketch in charcoal.
Congratulations also go to Alyssa Watford, Ella Brooks, Lilia Jones, Melissa Cardy and Patrick Scott whose artwork was also selected for the exhibition and is currently on display at County Hall, Maidstone. The competition was extremely strong with outstanding work from schools across Kent and all students deserve huge praise for their achievements. All award-winning artwork will be going on display at Turner Contemporary in January and will certainly be worth a visit.
