Choir
Choir is the most popular ensemble at the school, and often has as many as 150 students. One of the best things about the choir is that, besides being an unauditioned ensemble, it contains students from Year 7 right through to Year 13. There are also as many boys as there are girls, if not more so.
We are a standard SATB four part choir, which gives us access to all the professional adult repertoire, and at the Christmas Concert, which is the main annual concert, we are the featured ensemble.
We have sung a wide range of material in the past including:
Sacred: Vivaldi's Gloria, Fanshawe's African Sanctus, Handel's Zadok the Priest, Rutter's Gloria, Faure's Requiem, excerts from Mozart's Requiem, Bruckner's locus Iste, Taverner's The Lamb, Gorecki's Totus Tuus, Mozart's Ave Verum and many more....
Secular: Songs from the following musicals: The Lion King, Wicked, Hairspray, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Spamalot, traditionals such as spirituals, Nkosis Sikele (the South African National Anthem), Down to the River to Pray, O Happy Day (from the film Sister Act 2) and many more...
