Attendance
Attendance is everyone’s responsibility!
We all need to work together to make sure students attend school regularly.
At CCGS, we want the amount of missed education to be reduced as much as possible. We believe that our community is stronger together, with all our students in school, on time, every day. We are building life skills, life-long friendships and preparing your child for future success – not just supporting academic learning!
At CCGS, we want to help by:
CREATING A SAFE AND HAPPY SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT FOR YOU TO ATTEND EVERY DAY
PROVIDE PASTORAL SUPPORT THROUGH OUR PASTROAL TEAM
OFFERING BREAKFAST BEFORE SCHOOL AND LOTS OF EXTRA-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES
HAVING A STONG SCHOOL COMMUNITY WITH POSITIVE PARENTAL LINKS
At CCGS, we have lots of staff to support. Apart from our administrative team, tutors, pastoral team, and senior tutor, you can also contact:
· Mrs. Barringer (our Attendance Officer) vbarringer@ccgrammarschool.co.uk
· Mr. Goodwin (Attendance Champion) cgoodwin@ccgrammarschool.co.uk
Regular attendance helps students to maximise their educational opportunities. Each year should build on learning and knowledge previously taught. KS3 is the foundation for KS4 and beyond.
There are 190 school days which leaves 175 days for holidays, family events, free time etc.
· Students whose attendance is 100-95% have a 73% success rate of achieving 5 or more good GCSE’s.
· Students whose attendance is 90-80% have a 35% success rate of achieving 5 or more good GCSE’s.
We understand that there can be many reasons, some unavoidable, why students may miss school and we work hard as a school to support families and students to break down barriers to attendance and find solutions to improve absenteeism.
SEND
Some students face greater barriers to attendance than their peers. These can include those students with a SEND need who may become more anxious about attending school.
We understand this and want to work together to help provide reassurance and support to ensure regular attendance. Our Wellbeing Page has a wealth of information that can help.
