Year 10 and 11 Science trip to Amphenol

20th January 2020

On the 17th January 2020 a selected group of Year 10 and 11 students who are interested in a career in engineering went on a visit to Amphenol ltd in Whitstable. Amphenol is a global manufacturing company involved in the manufacture of connectors used in every day appliances such as Apple phones, the aerospace industry and  military hardware such as the ‘Future soldier’ project.

The students were given a talk from a senior engineer on the global role Amphenol plays and the work carried out at the Whitstable site. They were then given a tour of the manufacturing facilities and shown some of the hi-tech equipment used on site. After the tour they were also given a talk on career pathways for students considering engineering in the future and examples of jobs available at the site.

All students agreed that the visit was very useful and helped them understand career opportunities within the engineering sector.
