Gardening Club and Eco-school Committee Update

8th January 2020

The Gardening Club and Eco-school Committee moved closer to getting its Green Flag this week with the help of Cummins Power Generation at Manston Business Park.

As part of their community work, a team of engineers led by Jonathan Bell and Barney Parkins spent Tuesday 7th Jan on site at Chatham House building a new green house that had been bought with money donated from the Friends & Governors at CCGS, organized by Sue Hurrell. Enjoying the delights of our "American Themed Lunch Menu" as organized by our catering manager Mark Baker the team spent the day repairing fence panels, building a secure, stable base and assembling a poly-carbonate-alluminium grow house from some "challenging" instructions. The weather was kind to the team, seeing one of the warmest January days on record and plenty of tea, coffee and cake was on offer to keep them going.

This greenhouse will allow our keen green-fingered Gardening club the chance to get growing early and prolong the growing season. Which all adds to our application for our schools Green Flag status.
