CCGS Enters International link with Hamar Cathedral School, Norway

16th June 2016

Three members of staff from CCGS visited Norway at the end of Term 5, following initial discussions regarding a possible co-operation project between the CCGS Design Technology Department  and the Hamar Cathedral School Media & Communication Faculty.

Chatham & Clarendon has welcomed a number of overseas students to the school for many years and this year, one of those students is from Hamar Cathedral School, studying Media & Communication.

As such, this direct link offered the opportunity to further explore mutually beneficial initiatives with this successful Norwegian school.

CCGS staff were made to feel very welcome and completed a number of different activities throughout the visit. This included touring the school, meeting with Media & Communication and Physical Education staff, completing a formal presentation about CCGS and the UK Education System and meeting with the Hamar Cathedral School Principal, Stig Johannessen. As Hamar Cathedral School is an Upper Secondary School (16-19), there was also the opportunity to tour Ajer Lower Secondary School (13-15) to observe the curriculum provision for younger Norwegian students.

Throughout the visit, a number of possible links were identified and discussed within creative arts and other subject areas. We hope to welcome a delegation of Hamar Cathedral School staff at the start of the new academic year.
