Knitting Circle visits QEQM Special Baby Care Unit

18th May 2016

On 10th May some of the members of CCGS Knitting Circle visited QEQM Special Baby Care Unit to deliver hats, blankets, gloves and socks for the premature babies at the Unit.  These have been made by students, staff, and even parents and an ex-student!  We are very grateful for the donations of wool, needles and knitted items that we have received to help with this project.

The students who visited were shown around the department to see the facilities on offer when a baby is born prematurely.  A mother who was visiting her tiny son even offered to chat to the girls about her experience, which was very kind of her, as well as interesting.  It was particularly fascinating to see the tiny blood pressure cuffs for the very smallest premature babies and the lovely rooms for mothers to be able to spend time 'rooming-in' with their baby before leaving the unit.  Thank you QEQM for the time you spent with our students and we hope you find the items that we made useful!
