Top Coaching for Young Rugby Players

30th May 2012

Rugby training is a popular addition to the timetable at junior schools – thanks to players and staff from the Rugby Academy at The Chatham & Clarendon Grammar Federation.

They are working with pupils around the area to encourage development in the sport with a series of touch rugby matches.

The visits also include fitness, nutrition and lifestyle advice.

The sessions are very popular with the junior schools, such as St Laurence in Ramsgate.

Phil Hughes, senior tutor and master in charge of rugby at the federation, said: “Response from the juniors has been excellent. Boys and girls have really got involved in the touch matches and they are fast learners.

“It is all about our students and staff being able to offer the juniors a different dimension to their PE and sports activities and we are enjoying it.”
