Georgia Silk Fencing

15th March 2016

On Saturday the Southeast Championships and British Youth Championships regional qualifiers. Georgia Silk fenced fantastically all day and made it to the final against her fellow England teammate Tara Salaba. The final was thrilling to watch and both girls battled to the last. Tara finished the bout with a spectacular lunge to take the Gold and the southeast championship. Final score 15-13. Georgia brought home the Silver medal and qualified for the British Youth Championships held in Sheffield later in the year.

On Sunday we were immensely proud of Georgia Silk who didn't lose a fight in the Kent Individual Woman's Foil championships. This is her first year in the adult competition and she got to bring home the amazing Silver trophy. First presented 60 years ago by Dame Mary Glen Haig DBE and Georgia gets to add her name to the long list of past Champions including an amazing 14 entries from her coach Jane Clayton. Who's son Graham attended Chatham House and appears on one of your boards in the dining hall.

This final fight was also great to watch as both competitors displayed a high standard of fencing. Showing great resolve and focus in the face of defeat, Georgia fought her way back from 4-10 in the first break to win the Kent Championship 15-14.

On Friday Georgia is flying to Poland with the England Squad.
