Year 12 match report - 2nds Netball team v DOYMS

10th March 2014

WON 14-19

The surprising appearance of the sunshine during the day had the team in high hopes. We arrived at Duke of York and lined up in our positions on the court – bare-legged and eager for the game ahead. From the starting whistle we appeared strong, scoring the first goal within a minute of play. Duke of York didn’t give up without a fight and retaliated by scoring shortly after. Each time we scored they replied, but we began to develop an edge over the opposition with defenders Zoe and Emily making light work of the tricky task of defending the goal third. Exploiting our opponent’s mistakes and using possession profitably we began to show our dominance. By the end of the 2nd quarter we had secured a 4 goal advantage. During the 2nd half we continued to hold a steady lead and as the other team tired, it allowed us to showcase our superior fitness levels. Tilly and Zoe were on their toes, dodging in and out of the opponents to get the ball into our shooting third, with our GA and GS, Charlotte and Melissa netting goals with their accurate shooting. As the game progressed, our skill and experience allowed us to take control and dictate the pace of the game. In the final quarter, our accurate and incisive passing - which had been exhibited throughout the game – helped us maintain possession for the last 10 minutes and ensure our victory. The final score was 14-19 to CCGS, a great match from both teams and the umpires!
