Year 7 Rugby Report

16th December 2013

The year 7 rugby squad has made rapid gains in their understanding of the tactics and skills required to play rugby well. Between 25 to 30 pupils have trained enthusiastically every week and have demonstrated the potential skillset to become a combative side as they progress through the school. Positive features of the squads play includes aggressive rucking and mauling at contact points with decision making (when to pass) being an area to work on. Highlights of the season so far have been a narrow loss to a strong Maidstone Grammar team by five points and tied results against Manwoods and Dukies. The ‘B’ team have scored wins against both Manwoods and St Georges.  Whilst rugby is a team game, individuals such as Jack Miller, Joseph Skendrovic and Thomas Lamb have featured prominently in both attacking and defensive play throughout the year.
