A ‘taste’ of secondary school

19th June 2013

The Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School Federation opened its doors to over 400 Y5 primary school students during the first two weeks of June, giving pupils a real insight into secondary school life.

Taster sessions, led by the science & technology departments, allowed students to develop a range of skills whilst improving their own understanding of the subjects. Pupils had the opportunity to make a fortune in Science during the ‘panning for gold’ activity, bake a scrumptious apple & cinnamon rock cake in the high-tech ‘Master-Chef’ style Food Technology room  & fabricate their very own pewter key fob with the Product Design team. Fun was had by all!

Feedback from visiting staff - The children had an amazing time and a very worthwhile learning experience, which also fitted in with so many of the curriculum topics that we are studying at the moment.”
