Staff climb Everest!

21st May 2013

Well almost! On Friday May 17th, Clark Goodwin, Tom Richford and Neil Wakefield from the Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School Federation successfully completed a charity stair climb, reaching a combined elevation of 3452 meters, which is the equivalent of summiting Everest from Base Camp. The three ascended and descended the main stairwell on the Chatham Site a staggering 144 times each – that’s 6624 stairs up and 6624 stairs down!

The challenge was run in aid of Imibala, a charity based in South Africa. It raises money to provide township children with essential school uniform, equipment and tuition. Just £65 provides a year’s sponsorship for a child. For many of these children, school also provides the only regular meal of the day.

Early indications are that the event has raised well over £1000. Congratulations to all involved and to a big thank you to, the schools kit supplier, for kindly sponsoring T-shirts for the occasion.
